My then-fiancé threw me a surprise 30th birthday party and invited all my friends and family members to a Mexican restaurant. I thought he was just taking me to lunch. Imagine my surprise when we walked in and all these people were there! We all proceeded to eat, drink and be merry. He got up and thanked everyone for coming and making my birthday so special, then he got down on one knee and presented me with my engagement ring and asked me to marry him! I was completely shocked!

We had talked extensively about getting married, so I wasn't surprised by the proposal, but I certainly wasn't expecting it at that particular time. It was very romantic and special and after four years together, we are still very happy.
