It was Christmas Eve night, and we were going to his sister's house to watch the annual Christmas eve parade go by (as we have in the past few years). So, we were all outside on the front lawn (his whole family, friends, etc.) and the parade pulled up and stopped in front of the house and Santa and Mrs. Claus stood up holding a bright green sign with red sparkly letters that said "Lisa, will you marry Paul". And I turned and looked at him and he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Naturally, I was ecstatic and I hugged him and said Yes.

Then my family popped out of a side street that they were on watching the whole thing, but not letting me know they were there beforehand. Then the town newspaper photographer came in sight and flashed photos of us. We wound up being front page news for the paper the next day. I could not have been more surprised, especially since my fiancéis sort of shy and that was completely out of character. Anyway, it was the best thing that ever happened to me!
