The Flower Quandary

Like most ladies, I love flowers. Nothing makes my day more than a nice bouquet of fresh-cut anything. So in planning my wedding, I know the floral part will be a big deal. Unfortunately, I also know that flowers from a florist would be expensive. Like most brides, I’m on a budget for my wedding, and I realize that flowers are one place where costs could be cut. How will I get tons of wedding blooms without paying thousands of dollars? At first, this seemed like an unanswerable question.
A few months ago, I began searching online for anything about wedding flowers. I saw that many sites allow you to purchase bulk flowers at a much lower price than what a florist would charge. But I was skeptical. Would ordering flowers online really be a good idea? And how on earth would I arrange them myself? It seemed like I might just have to suck it up and get flowers from a florist. Then, I found a few sites that sell pre-arranged flowers for weddings. These packages are mostly from the producer Vistaflor, but they’re sold under different brand names: Costco, fiftyflowers.com, and Proflowers all carry variations. Most wedding packages come with bouquets for the bride and her attendants, corsages and boutonnieres, centerpieces and a smaller bouquet for tossing. A package like this sounds great to me because I’ll be able to get more flowers for less money.
I still haven’t made up my mind about whether to order flowers online. I’m worried that they won’t be perfect. However, since most flower sites have guarantees associated with their products, I’m leaning toward the online route. I may supplement my online flowers with a few decorations for a local florist. Potted plants seem like a good idea too because they can be taken home after the wedding. Regardless of how worried I am about flowers now, I know that when the big day rolls around, they’ll be the last thing on my mind. So I guess all I can do is calm down and see what happens.
