Planning Your Perfect Honeymoon

Posted by Mary Frederick (Apr 26,2009)

Equally as important as the wedding, is the honeymoon. Often times in the wedding planning process, the honeymoon doesn't get as much thought put into it. It may just be a vacation, but it's also the most romantic and symbolic vacation that you will take in your life. This is your first trip together as husband and wife. This is your time alone, and your way to connect as you enjoy the first few days of married life. It should be something special and romantic, something unique that you may only do once in your life.

You want to talk as a couple to figure out what would make the dream vacation for you. A honeymoon should be a perfect fit for the two of you and should meet and exceed all of your expectations. If the two of you would love a ski weekend, then look into that. If you want to get away from it all and do nothing but lay on an island, then that should be what you look into for your dream honeymoon. There's nothing to say what makes for a perfect honeymoon so go with what makes you happy.

It helps to do some research so that you can not only find the perfect location, but also the perfect deal. There are some resorts and destinations out there that will cater to the newlyweds so consider that in your search. Sometimes you can find resorts that will upgrade you to a suite and give you special amenities such as a private dinner on the beach if you are coming in as newlyweds. It can help to talk to a travel agent as well, that way you are bound to get the full details on some of the destinations you are considering.

Make a list of places that you would consider going to, or even what type of destination you'd like to visit. Do some research online to get an idea of price, amenities, hotels, resorts, and any extras that you'd like included. You can either book online working to customize it along the way, or you can work with a travel agent to schedule it all together. This is probably going to be the most special vacation of your life, so consider that you may very well spend more money on this than any other trip. Go for some of the extras if you can because you want it to be a once in a lifetime experience!

Consider all of your options. If you want something tropical, then look into an all-inclusive, cruise, or a hut on a remote beach somewhere. If you want something focused on sightseeing, then consider a trip to Europe or to some faraway land that will allow you to take in the sights. If the two of you have always wanted to visit Las Vegas, then there's no time like the present. This is your trip so take the time and plan something truly amazing to celebrate your status as newlyweds.
