Food Choices For Your Wedding

People will remember your wedding, and you want that to be for a good reason. Guests will remember the fun time that they had, the favors that you gave them, and inevitably the meal that they eat. You want to be sure that they remember the meal you provided in a positive way, so this is an area where you should put some good thought into.
The meal you serve at your wedding should be a reflection of the type of event you've planned. You should think through the type of wedding you are having and then be sure that the food fits the tone of the day. If you are having a rather classic or traditional wedding, then you should serve a meal that fits with that style. Think of a very classy meal that could include a plated meal option for all of the guests complete with a filet and perhaps a salmon. Not only do you want to be sure that the food you serve is delicious, but that it keeps with the tone of the day.
If you are having a beach wedding and the reception is at an amazing beachfront venue, then the food should be an extension of that. People will be in the laid back and carefree frame of mind that a beach wedding would dictate. Therefore you want to keep the food light and airy, stick with simple seafood options or perhaps light appetizers with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables.
You want to take the time to research your caterer or reception venue to be sure that they are well versed both in the culinary skill that they exhibit, as well as the types of food that they serve. You want flexibility and capability in cooking all types of cuisine so that you are sure they can match the style of your big day. If you have any ideas as you begin your relationship or are in the process of selecting who will handle your food needs, then be sure to mention those up front.
Many times wedding venues are well versed at making recommendations for meals to be served as they are in the business of handling such affairs. You can get some excellent recommendations, but don't be afraid to speak up if you have some ideas of your own. This is particularly true if you are having a unique type of wedding and want the food to be a certain way. This is your big day and you want to be certain that everything is perfect, and the meal you serve your guests is a big part of that. Always remember to offer options for any special dietary needs when applicable. Offer a vegetarian option if necessary or work to ensure that a special plate can be supplied if a guest has certain restrictions.
