Choosing Wedding Colors

Choosing your wedding colors may not seem like like a big deal but it's actually quite important. Your wedding colors are what you use to case all your decisions off of for everything from centerpieces and flowers to bridesmaid dresses and the paper for the program. With so many options and possibilities out there choosing a specific color scheme can be difficult. Plus you and your spouse to be may have different ideas of what would be nice. Thus there are lots of things to take into consideration when choosing your wedding colors. Here are a few things that will make your decision simpler.
Season
Think about the season when the wedding will be taking place. Bright yellow may seem strange for a winter wedding but would be perfect for a summer ceremony. Pastels are nice for spring but may feel out of place during fall. Take the season into consideration because it does make a difference and proper colors for a season help get guests into the event that much more.
Time of day and formality
A morning wedding is very different from a night wedding as is an afternoon ceremony. You should think about the lighting because bold red and midnight black may not feel right in the morning, likewise violet and pale pink may seem out of place during a formal night wedding where everyone is black tie. For earlier weddings choose lighter colors, mid-day you can mix bold and pastel, night weddings go for bold, strong colors that make a statement. Formality follows the same pattern, informal should be light colored, think sun dress colors, semi-formal a mix of colors and formal the bold colors.
Color availability
If you choose a rare color you may find it hard to find linens, flowers and other décor to match the dresses or other items you have chosen. Unique colors are great but you should be prepared to be flexible with using similar colors when you can’t find the exact same tones.
Choosing one color each
If you and your significant other are having trouble settling on colors then one way to simplify the process is to each choose one color. See if they look good together and match. If not then you each have to choose another color and see if those match. This way you each get some of what you want in the compromise.
